2010 Old Vine Zinfandel
Lodi, Cory Ranch
This Zinfandel just might catch you by surprise! It’s made bordelaise style, which means it has a little more acid and tannin structure and was aged in French instead of American oak (traditionally used for Zins). The result is a thick, rich mouth feel and aromas that reach out and grab you -- like wonderful lush raspberries, pomegranates and plums. There’s also a bit of mocha and a touch of almond. With a mild perceived sweetness on the finish (“perceived” because there’s no residual sugar), this wine lingers in your head all the way down the mountain! Enjoy it with a pork roast or braised beef short ribs.
