A blend of the traditional Bordeaux varietals Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, our 2017 Meritage highlights the best of Temecula-grown grapes in a cuvée that showcases the nuances of each grape. This complex Bordeaux-varietal blend displays aromas of concentrated fruit, spice, and wood with layers of plum, black cherry, cinnamon stick, and anise, as well as sweet toasty oak and sandalwood. On the palate, solid, balanced fruit and oak tannins support the black fruit flavors to an elegant, lingering finish. With just the right amount of acid and a smooth tannin structure, this wine is a delight to drink alone or to pair with red meat dishes: think Beef Bourgignon, a slice of Prime Rib Roast, or barbecue tri-tip. If you’re a fan of dark-meat fouls, enjoy it with duck or goose. Or try it with something different like stuffed chicken breasts topped with a red wine reduction sauce.  However you look at it, this is yum-yum juice, for sure!
