2013 Pinot Grigio
Blue's Creek Vineyard
Caution: This Pinot Grigio is so refreshing you just might find yourself sipping it all day long! It has wonderful pear and red apple aromas and a zesty acidity. The wine has a nice weighty feeling on the middle of your tongue along with a lingering finish and a light pineapple aftertaste. And don’t be fooled by the slight “sweetness” – it’s a perceived sweetness typical of root stock from Alsace, France (vs. Italy). Enjoy this Pinot Grigio alone or with light fare such as ceviche, sushi or even a light flaky tilapia with cream sauce.
Light, crisp, lively intensely aromatic is what this wine is all about! This is the sixth harvest from Blue’s Creek Vineyard and, interestingly, as the vines have matured, the grapes have developed apple aromas in addition to the fresh pear aromas of prior years. These stone fruit aromas are very typical of Pinot Grigio, as are the hints of ruby grapefruit and lemongrass on the palate. Winemaker Chris insists on picking the grapes “early” – before the hot summer sun causes them to ripen too quickly and lose their acidity.
The nice acid structure of this wine makes it a perfect pairing with cream-based sauces and softer cheeses. It’s also great with seafood like salmon or tuna, or take a trip around the world and adventure into Indian and Japanese cuisines with this 2013 Pinot Grigio.
From the Alsacian "Clone-52" vines, perhaps the only vineard planted to this variety, we have been very fortunate to acquire the entire harvest from this vineyard.
